Embutidos Ortiz has received the Innovation Award at the La Rioja Business Success Awards given each year by the magazine Actualidad Económica, which belongs to Unidad Editorial.a leading business group in the world of global communication and responsible for publishing El Mundo, Expansión and Marca, among others.
Embutidos Ortizcontinues to receive general recognition for its commitment to innovation, which is carried out with the utmost respect for tradition. It is no coincidence that its two innovative products – Chorizo with Quinoa and Chorizo with Kombu seaweed– are made from the traditional recipe of the Ortiz family, which began making sausages in 1915.
Embutidos Ortiz’s Chorizo with Quinoa and Chorizo with Kombu seaweed have been shortlisted for the Carrefour Innovation Awardsand the Sial Innovation Awardsin Paris and Canada. Chorizo with Quinoa is Product of the Yearin the Grand Innovation Award 2019 and the company Embutidos Ortiz received last March the Award for Agricultural Research and Innovation from the Government of La Rioja.
Actualidad Económica has particularly valued the internationalisation of Embutidos Ortiz (sales to more than 25 countries account for 62% of its turnover) and its R+D+i strategy, which consists of “version of the traditional sausage with vegetable proteins such as quinoa or kombu seaweed. With these innovations, it broadens the range of consumers to more daring people or people who want to enjoy this type of food without giving up a balanced diet”.
